About Las Vegas
The secret to the attraction of Las Vegas is somewhat of an enigma. Perhaps the key to the city's unparalleled success is the fact that Las Vegas is always devising new concepts to attract return visitors from year to year. Las Vegas is never the same, there is always something new for visitors to see or do.
Fremont Street is where it all began, from a small railroad stop at the turn of the century to one of the brightest streets in the world. For decades, Fremont Street was one of the best places to cruise in a convertible car but now the street has been closed off to traffic and it is a pedestrian paradise lined with kiosks, souvenir shops and, of course, plenty of casinos.
The city is constantly changing to accommodate and attract the huge number of visitors with over 30 million per year according to some statistics. Las Vegas has over 120,000 hotel rooms that are ever increasing in number to accommodate this expanding influx of visitors.
Though often sordid and over the top, Vegas never fails to fascinate, and even for an observer who may be repelled by the abundance of glitter, is a travel destination that should be experienced.
A Safe City
The city of Las Vegas has been ranked one of the 10 safest cities out of 30 cities with a population of over 500,000, according to the City Crime Rankings, an annual reference book of crime statistics and rankings.
