The Fashion Show
It’s the cherry on top of the cake…The Fashion Show Mall with its $1 billion dollar expansion is the largest shopping destination on the Strip.
What Sort of Shops Has It Got?
Incorporating eight major US department stores and over 250 other retailers under one roof, including Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Nordstrum, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, Apple Computers, Bang and Olufsen stereo systems, bebe, Bernini, Brookstone, The Disney Store, Louis Vuitton, Puma, Quicksilver, Sharper Image and Tommy Bahama’s but to name a few, its no wonder over 10 million shopaholics are drawn to the venue each year.
Watch Where You’re Going
Once you get inside check the maps because it’s easy to go round in circles in the place. There are several levels with a rising terrace effect as you move from front to rear so it’s not as simple as taking the ground floor from one end to the other and then coming back on the second floor like you do in most malls.
The Vice
The complex seems more than a little cold, but this could be a well-intended idea, to attract the customers into the much warmer shops and start spending money.
The Extension
It’s a serious shoppers paradise, with its huge renovation, the outlet has doubled in size. In November 2002, expansion included department stores from Neiman Marcus, Macy's and Robinsons-May along with new stores for Saks Fifth Avenue, Dillard's, a new national prototype Bloomingdale's Home and the first Nordstrom for Nevada.
The Stage and Catwalk
In the centre of the huge new part of the mall is the Great Hall, with an 80-foot-long retractable runway. Equipped with giant televisions, lights, and a massive sound system, the area can host everything from concerts and special events to actual models on a catwalk. There’s even a giant 28 square foot stage, which rises hydraulically from the floor to reveal an enclosed display area.
The Cloud
Another part of the extension featured a 480 foot-long steel structure called the "Cloud." The Cloud hovers 128 feet above a 72,000 square-foot plaza on the Las Vegas Strip, providing shade during the day and doubling as an image projection surface at night. Four LED screens situated just below the Cloud are used to broadcast video, events occurring inside Fashion Show, sponsored advertising or synchronized live Las Vegas events. Also included in the extension was a new Event Facility that accommodated up to 750 guests for private functions, new retail, dining and entertainment experiences and an 11,288 square-foot Food Court with seating for 1,500 featuring both fresh and fast food options.
Not A Normal Mall
Its obvious The Fashion Show isn’t like the average shopping mall, especially with their full-service concierge staff, that can arrange show tickets or restaurant reservations while the weary shopper, purse in hand, trudges on!
