Grand Canal Shops at The Venetian
Become a Venetian for the day, walk along a very accurate reproduction of a canal and surrounding streets of modern-day Venice, minus of course the over insidious odour of the real thing!
What Is It?
The Grand Canal Shops at The Venetian is the largest mall in Las Vegas with over 1 million square feet of indoor retail space.
What’s In It?
Winding for nearly a quarter of a mile through cobblestone walkways are street side cafes and one of the world's most exclusive mixes of retail shops and restaurants.
St Marks Square
After wandering past some of the shopping stores visitors will arrive at a huge space called St. Marks Square, where time out can be had, by taking a gondola ride. Designed after Venetian gondolas, the ride takes passengers on a half-mile journey through the centre of the shopping complex or outside the resort, gives them a chance to see the sights. Also at the square are an opera trio and a strolling juggler, dressed in regal richness to entertain the masses and vendors offering Venetian glass figurines, trinket boxes and other souvenirs on their carts.
Special Shops
The specialty stores are what make the Grand Canal Shoppes extra interesting, for example Ripa de Monti has the best selection of hand-blown dolphins, fish and other aquatic life. Next door, at Il Prato, there are marionettes, masks and fine papers, as well as ornate frames, mirrors and delicate accessories. The Regis Galerie swanks with Faberge eggs and refined bronze pieces.
Get What You Can
Visitors should grab as much entertainment as possible while at the Grand Canal Shoppes, especially the rides, that include the Time Traveller: The 3D Ride, at the food court entrance and Madame Tussaud's Las Vegas (the waxwork museum).
Best Way to Get Around
The layout of the shopping area allows visitors to get around quite easily. Starting at the parking area, shoppers can enter the stores at Level 3, the food court. By taking a right turn and following the canal to St. Mark's Square, then crossing to the other side, they arrive at the Great Hall. From here, the choice is up to the customer to either return to the car park and visit the stores missed on the way or take the escalators down to the casino or exit to the Strip.
