The airport is ranked 8th busiest in the world, 1 mile (1.6 km.) from the Strip and 3.5 miles (5.6 km.) from the Convention Centre.
The airport is also 5 miles (8 km.) from Downtown Las Vegas and averages 980 flights a day. Direct flights are available to 58 U.S. cities and 1 European city.
McCarran has two terminals, with Terminal 2 serving non-regularly scheduled international flights and charters.
Scheduled airlines include Alaska, Allegiant Air, Aloha, America West, American, British Airways, Continental, Champion Air, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Midwest, Northwest/ KLM, Song, Southwest, Sun Country, United and US Airways.
All gates connect to the main terminal via a passenger tram arriving and departing every 1-2 minutes.
McCarran’s Terminals have in total 92 gates, covering 2,820 acres and within its car parking facilities can accommodate 5,000 cars a day, with a tram to certain terminals.

The main terminal rotunda and shopping esplanade contain a variety of slot machines, stores and restaurants. Casino-specific gift shops include Luxor, Circus Circus, MGM Grand, Mandalay Resort Group (Excalibur, Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay), Treasure Island, Bellagio, Harrah's, Caesars, Golden Nugget and Mirage. A 24-Hour Fitness offers a basic $15 day rate or a $30 rate that includes gym clothing, towel and shoes.
