Desert Pines Golf Club
Desert Pines Golf Club
South Carolina eat your heart out! Desert Pines transports the Southern feel of Carolina golf to the Nevada desert.
The Southern Look
To create the Southern feel there are nearly 4,000 pine trees, white sand and water features on half the holes, which is enhanced by each hole's separation from others by mounding and the forest effect from all the pines. Several ponds come into play on half the holes, and more than 60 bunkers, many of which are framed with railroad ties set in a starburst pattern.
The Holes
Hole No. 4 is a par-4 called The Narrows, the par-4 holes are short, medium and long, giving the course plenty of variety, with three of the par 4's measuring 341 yards or less.
The par-4, 467-yard 9th is the No. 1 handicap hole. The tee shot must avoid bunkers on the left, while the second shot must dodge a left bunker that sits opposite a lake running along the right side of the two-tiered green.
The signature hole is No. 12, a 425-yard par 4. A left grass bunker challenges the tee shot. A long, railroad-tie-trimmed bunker runs all along the left side of the green, while other tie-trimmed bunkers guard it front and back. The par-4, 466-yard 18th, which plays to the clubhouse is a great finishing hole.
