Video Poker
Its just one on one with Video Poker, but the one on one is with a machine! Based on the traditional Five Card Stud, Video Poker challenges players to create the best possible five-card hand.
How It Works
The player has five cards dealt to them via the machines’ visual display screen. Most machines beep and indicate if the player has made a paying hand, but the player doesn’t have to hold that hand. The player selects which cards to hold, then presses the Draw button, and new cards are dealt off the top of the deck to replace the discards. If the final hand is in the payoff schedule, the machine makes the payoff, either by counting up credits or by dropping coins, otherwise, the player’s bet is lost.
Ways To Win
There are several card combinations that can win a player plenty of money. All the hands below are ranked in order, with the best hand possible at the top:
· Royal Flush - The Ace, King, Queen, Jack, and the Ten of any one suit.
· Straight Flush - Any five cards in sequence of one suit.
· Four of a Kind - Four cards of the same rank.
· Full House - Three cards of one rank, and two of another.
· Flush - Any five cards of the same suit; the sequence doesn't matter.
· Straight - Five cards in sequence of any suit.
· Three of a Kind - Three cards of the same rank.
· Two Pair - Two pairs of cards of the same rank.
· Jacks or Better - Two cards (Jacks or better) of the same rank.
Remember though that the best hand is also the most difficult to get, therefore always having the highest payout rate. The last hand on the list is the most common, therefore having the worst payout rate of all.
Why Players Like The Game…
Players get addicted to these machines due to its fast action and a chance at a big jackpot. To the skilled player (addicted player), the attraction is that some games offer an opportunity for a long-term profit. Mainly based on risk and luck, but a player's skill could make the difference between a winner and a loser long-term.
Payments
Video Poker machines are available in many denominations, with 25 cent and $1 machines being the most popular. Many casinos also offer progressive payoffs or bonuses for Royal Flushes or other special hands. Video Poker provides variety too, with versions ranging from Jacks Or Better to Deuces Wild and Jokers Wild.
