Keno

Anyone who’s played Bingo or the Lotto will understand Keno and anyone who hasn’t played either, will still understand Keno!
It’s an easy game to play. The first thing players need to do is get hold of a keno ticket and a crayon!

Playing The Game

1. The keno ticket will have numbers 1 through 80 on it. To play the game the player needs to put an X through ten to fifteen numbers. (Some casinos let a player choose up 20 numbers or one entire side of a card). For the lazier player there is even a computer that will randomly pick numbers for the player! The addicted player may circle groups of numbers and play each possible combination of circles on one ticket.

2. After filling out a ticket the player will take both ticket and money to the keno host, who will take the items and enter the chosen numbers into the computer giving the player a receipt. Keep a tight hold of that receipt as it’s the only proof of making a bet. One minute before the numbers are drawn, the windows close to new bets.

3. Eighty ping-pong sized balls will be blown about an air chamber and one at a time twenty of them will be selected. There may be a 'big board', which lights up the numbers as they are chosen, or players may have to find a television monitor dedicated to displaying keno numbers!

4. As the numbers pop up, the player can mark them down on their card. If enough of the chosen 20 match the player's picks then the ticket wins according to the number of matches and the amount bet.

5. The more numbers that match, the more the player wins. If the player has enough matches to claim a winning ticket, then the keno clerk will be happy to pay them!

Different Options To Play

1. If playing individual games, a player must be attentive, because any winning tickets must get to the keno clerk before the next game starts, otherwise the ticket is void and they cannot collect any winnings!

2. Another way to play is to buy a large number of tickets using the same numbers. Usually this number is limited to twenty games. After this 'multi race' ticket has lasted the 20 games, they can go to a keno clerk and have them check for winning games.

3. A third option is for people who want to wander elsewhere while the game continues. At many casinos players can buy a 'stray and play' keno ticket, which applies to the next 'X' number of games ('X' is usually greater than 20, or whatever the maximum 'multi-race' game number is). The great thing with this option is that the player doesn't have to show up after their 25 or 30 games have been and gone. They can come back at any time. Most stray and play tickets last up to a year, so players can buy a ticket for the 'next' 60 games, and if they happen to match all the numbers without even realizing it on the 36th game, they can leave Vegas, come back in eight months, get the keno clerk to check their ticket, and pick up their winnings…voila!

Payouts

If a player picks five numbers, three usually have to be on the ticket to claim, with payment at 3 to 1. If four of those five numbers were on the ticket, payment would be 26 to 1. If all five were on the ticket, payment would be 332 to 1.
