Craps

This is the table where all the noise comes from! All players love the game of craps, as it’s one of the most exciting games to play. Due to the different ways of wagering, Craps can become quite complicated. To start with though, players can make simple bets with the odds on them being quite favourable. The player will pick up the rest as they play.

Rules

1. Place a simple bet on the "Pass Line" before the shooter rolls the dice.

2. If the shooter rolls 7 or 11, the player and the shooter win, and the shooter will keep the dice to roll again. If the shooter gets 2, 3, or 12, the bet is lost but they remain the shooter and continue to roll the dice until the shooter either makes their point and both the shooter and player win, or the shooter rolls a 7 and the bet is lost.

3. In the above case, the player has bet with the shooter. If the player wants to bet against the shooter, the player places their bet on the "Don't Pass" line and the rules are entirely reversed except that if, on the shooters first roll, the shooter rolls 12, it is a standoff (the player neither wins nor loses).

4. After the roll has started and the shooter has a point, the player can make a bet by placing it on the "come" line. The same rules apply to the player as if the shooter were making a first roll: if the next roll is 7 the player wins, if it is a 2, 3, or 12, the player loses, if it is any other number, that becomes the players’ "come point" and, for the player to win, it must be rolled again before a 7. If a 7 comes first, the bet is lost.

If a player is a beginner they should start with a "pass" line bet and then perhaps try a "come" bet. Whatever happens the dealers are always happy to explain more about the game.

The Craps Bets

A Pass Line is an even money bet. If the first roll of the dice totals 7 or 11, the player wins. If the first roll is a 2, 3, or 12 the player loses the bet. Any other number is the "point" and if the point is rolled again, the player wins, but will lose on 7.

A Don’t Pass The Line is just the opposite of the Pass Line, except that if 12 is the first roll, it's a standoff, which means nobody wins.

Come Bets are virtually the same as the Pass Line, except that the player must bet after the point.

Don’t Come Bets are the opposite of the Come Bet, except that a first roll of 2 or 3 wins, and 12 is a standoff.

Odds bets happen once the player has a "point" or a "come-out point". The player can then take the Odds and win if the point or the come point is made before a 7.

Payoff for Odds are: Two to one for 1, 0's or 4's, three to two for 5's or 9's, six to five for 8's or 6's. When betting Don’t Pass or Don’t Come, the player lays the odds as outlined. The Odds are placed behind the players bet on the Pass Line. On Don’t Pass bets, the players’ Odds bet is placed to the side of the players’ bet and offset the chips toward the dealer.

Place Bets happens once a shooter makes a "point", the player may then take a Place Bet on numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. If the players’ number comes up before 7, the player wins. Payoff is nine to five on 4's or 1 or 0's, seven to five on 5's or 9's, seven to six on 8's or 6's.

The Field is when the player is betting that 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12 are rolled before the 5, 6, 7 or 8 and the 2 and 12 pay double. This is also a one-roll bet. The dealer will take the players’ money if the dice show a number that is not in the field (5, 6, 7 or 8).

The Big 6 Or 8 is when the player may bet one or both of the numbers and win even money on the number when thrown before 7.

Proposition Bets is when all the bets in the centre of the table are included in front of the "stick man." The "stick man" will ask that these bets be made before every roll of the dice.
The 2 and 12 pay thirty for one, 3 and 11 pay fifteen for one. These are one-roll bets. That is, the bet loses if the dice do not show a 2, 3, 11, or 12. The player can also be a Horn Bet or a Horn High Bet. A Horn Bet is a combination of all four numbers, 2, 3, 11, or 12. A Horn High Bet is a wager that has an extra amount on one of the four numbers. For example, a $5 Horn High Twelve means that a dollar each is upon three of the numbers with $2 on the twelve. Proposition bets also include Hard Way Bets, Any Craps and bets on the 11.

Hard Way Bets, the player wins if the number comes up exactly as on the table and the players loses if the number comes up any other way, or if a 7 is thrown. For example, if you have $1 on the hard 4, the dice must roll two two's to win. If the dice roll is 1 and 3, the bet loses. Hard Way bets will remain on the table in play until the number rolls, or if a seven rolls.

With Any Craps, the player can bet this bet on any roll. If a 2, 3 or 12 rolls, the player wins and they’re paid seven times the amount of their bet. If any other number is rolled, the player loses.
