Pioche Mining Town

The mining town, Pioche, located in Lincoln County north of Clark, 180 miles northwest of Vegas, was considered Nevada's wildest in the mid 1800s. Pioche attracted many a rogue and, like Bodie and Tombstone, saw gunfights break out in its rowdy saloons. Once home to twelve thousand people, Pioche was practically a ghost town by the turn of the century. Today, at least two places are worth visiting. The Lincoln County Museum houses artefacts from the era include mining tools, guns, medicines, clocks, books, a printing press, household wares, and more.
