Outdoor Activities Whilst in Las Vegas
With plenty of things to do outside of Las Vegas, it’s a wonder where visitors know where to start! With activities including rock climbing, skiing and white water rafting, there’ll be a great adrenalin rush, whatever the choice!
Fancy going on a hack? There are many horseback rides people can enjoy from Red Rock Canyon to the Valley of Fire including an overnight wilderness ride with panoramic views of the desert valley and the Spring Mountains. Visitors who just fancy a walk will find that hiking is everywhere, even down to the depths of the Grand Canyon, the best way to see one of the great wonders of the world. Off the road experiences provide active visitors the chance to ride in a Land Rover, Jeep Cherokee or Wrangler with a short hike climbing rocks to get to one with nature.
If climbing is a visitors main interest then courses in rock and alpine climbing are available, where trainee climbers will learn the basics and hazards of rock climbing before attempting the climb itself. A chance to test the body mentally and physically as new heights ar e reached. Whether visitors have climbed many routes before or not, instructors will create a climbing excursion to fit the abilities.
Water activities include rafting, of which, Las Vegas provide two kinds, the gentle sort of rafting ride which takes a group of people down the Colorado River, visiting bubbling springs on the way. The other one takes fear-stricken passengers over rapids for one or two days, within the Grand Canyon area. Rafters from all over the world come to experience the thrills and excitement of rafting the Colorado River. The day trips are the most popular types of trips to the Grand Canyon. There are two choices for those wishing to do these types of trips. One trip drives to the canyon and then you go rafting ending with a drive back to Las Vegas. The other option offers a helicopter flight to the canyon (saving much time) and then you go rafting, the trip ends with a drive back to Las Vegas. Both options allow plenty of time on the river.
Too hot in the sizzling heat of the Nevada desert? Only half an hour away from Las Vegas, visitors can go skiing and snowboarding in Mount Charleston’s Lee Canyon. The Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort offers 40 acres of ski terrain and a summit of 9,510 feet. There are 30 acres of snowboarding terrain at the resort with a half pipe and terrain park, making it a paradise for snowboarders. Although there are plenty of private and group lessons available for beginners, most of the resort's terrain consists of intermediate runs, some of which are challenging even for intermediate skiers. Another 20 percent of the terrain is advanced, which doesn't leave much room for first-timers! Some visitors have found it fun to ski and ride during the day and return to the glitz and glamour of the Strip at night.
Want to cool down without skiing round a Canyon? Cruising, boating, kayaking, swimming, freshwater scuba diving, skydiving, jet skiing and many more can all be done on Lake Mead. Whether it's a visitor’s first time to skydive or twentieth, the experience will provide a high adrenalin rush every time. Taking off from nearby Boulder City airport it's a sure way to add variety to a Lake Mead visit. A Jet Ski tour is also available on Lake Mead where beginner and trainer tour the waters on separate jet skis with communication via a two-way radio. Delving deeper, visitors will find that Lake Mead is one of the top five fresh water dive destinations in the United States! Underwater divers will see Fresh Water Jelly Fish, Large Mouth Bass, Shad, Blue Gill, Carp, Stripers, Catfish, Fresh Water Sponges and a whole array of other organisms that have made the Lake Mead ecosystem there home.
Whatever the sport/s a visitors decides to opt for, anyone one of them will make a pleasant change from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip and give visitors a chance to clear their heads before heading back to the gambling tables.
