Drive A Race Car - The Speedway
Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a 1,500-acre, $200 million facility and the first completely new super speedway to be built in the southwest region of the United States in more than 20 years. Offering various forms of racing, for both 2 wheel and 4 wheel vehicles the motorsport facility can accommodate up to 102,000 fans with an unobstructed view of the event taking place.
Track Features
The track features a 1.5 mile super speedway, a 2.5 mile FIA-approved road course, a 4,000-foot drag strip, paved and dirt short tracks, motorcross circuits, stadium truck racing facilities, go-kart and Legends cars layouts as well as a Junior Drag racing strip, a total of 24 different tracks and test facilities.
How To Get There
To get to the Speedway from Las Vegas take the I-15 North to exit 54 or take Las Vegas Blvd towards Nellis Air Force Base.
The Various Experiences
Various driving and riding experiences are offered to fans that can afford it.
· Ride-Along program in a two-seater stock car driven by a professional instructor $89.00
· Rookie Experience, you drive eight laps around the track after a three-hour program, starting at $349.00.
· King's Experience is a five hour program with 18 laps starting at $749.00
· Experience of a Lifetime includes 30 laps around the track and a safety program starting at $1,199.00
· Racing Experience covers 80 laps over 1 1/2 days $2,399.00
· Advanced Racing Experience with 40 laps $2,999.00
· Brickyard Experience is a 24 lap experience around the 2.5 mile oval track, limited reservations for this one $1999.
· Bristol Experience is a 12 lap program with 36 degree turns on a 1/2 mile oval track, limited reservations $349.00
· Daytona Experience covers 24 laps on the 2.5 mile track with 31 inch high banks, a private viewing of the "Daytona 500" movie, complimentary admission to DAYTONA USA $2,499.00. Reservations 1-800-BE-PETTY.
Buy Your Own Racing Car
Buy your own Legends car. Racing fans can purchase 5/8-scale cars powered by 1200cc Yamaha motorcycle engines. Purchase a '34 Ford Sedan; '40 Ford Coupe; '37 Chevrolet Sedan; '37 Chevrolet Coupe; '37 Ford Sedan; '37 Ford Coupe or a '37 Dodge Coupe manufactured by 600 Racing in Harrisburg, NC (704) 455-3896. Legends Cars have competed in over 950 sanctioned racetracks across North America, Australia and England. Since 1992, 1,800 cars have been manufactured.
The Racing Programs
Driving 101 also offers racing programs at the California Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
· The Champ Ride, six miles as a passenger with speeds between 170-180 MPH $199.00
· Driving 100 is a safety program and twelve miles behind the wheel at speeds up to 140 MPH, $499.00
· Driving 200, two sessions with a total of twenty-seven miles of driving with speeds up to 155 MPH, $899.00
· Driving 300, three sessions with forty-five miles of driving with speeds up to 165 MPH, $1,499.00
· Advanced Experience, is a two-day program with one-hundred miles of driving with speeds reaching 180 MPH, $2,999.00. Students must read the drivers manual and pass a written test to obtain the 101 Drivers License which releases you from all vehicle liability damages. A 2-year photo license is issued, $25.
