A J Hackett’s Bungy Jump
A J Hackett’s Bungy Jump
Ankles are safely strapped in, an overwhelming view occupies the rider for a moment and small steps are taken to stand on the two marked footprints, while the toes peek over the edge of a 171.5 ft tower. A bungy expert shouts, "Keep your arms out as you jump and as you’re about to touch the water, tuck your chin in and close your eyes”. After a count to 3, the jumper falls off the tower with arms out wide, heading for oblivion at a rate of 45 mph.
The Bungee
Standing 200 ft tall, hovering over the shimmering pool at 810 Circus Circus Drive on the Las Vegas Strip, at a jump height of 171.5 feet, is the stand alone bungee jumping tower with it's 20 person air conditioned single stage hydraulic elevator. The 200-foot single stage lift is the longest in the world, with the second longest single stage being found in the 115 foot shaft of the Statue of Liberty.
Various Jumps
There are different bungee jumps riders can venture to take off the tower, from diving with a chest harness to diving over a concrete roof to diving with an ankle harness over a pool, at the end of the chosen jump, each diver will get a t-shirt and their very own personal bungee jump video.
History
The tower was built by Thornton, under contract to Sig Roguish, back in 1968, as a rocket ship ride above the strip. Later on, a company called ‘Bungee Masters’ took ownership of the tower and after plenty of test jumps from both sides of the jump platforms, opened to the public for Bungy Jumping on July 18, 1992. Bungee Masters eventually sold the tower to AJ Hackett in March of 1996 and it operates under the name AJ Hackett Bungy today.
